Flying into Hana
In addition to driving the famous "Road to Hana," guests
can fly directly into Hana from Kahului, Maui (main Maui airport),
Honolulu International Airport, Oahu, or other inter-island airports.
The Hotel Hana-Maui provides complimentary shuttle service to and
from the Hana Airport, located approximately 3 miles away. Advance
notice is required. Below is a summary of available flight services.
The information is current as of March, 2007. All rates and schedules
are subject to change without notice.
Airports
Hana Airport
The Hana Airport is located about three miles from the hotel and
is serviced by regularly scheduled flights
from Honolulu and Kahului. The hotel provides complimentary transfer
when advised in advance of arrival.
Kahului Airport
Kahului is the major airport for Maui and is about 57 miles from
the hotel. The airport is serviced by direct flights from the Mainland
by major airlines and Aloha and Hawaiian Airlines. The Hotel is
a scenic, two-hour drive away on the famous Hana
Highway.
Honolulu International Airport
Regularly scheduled inter-island flights are available from Honolulu
International Airport to Kahului Airport through Aloha airlines,
Hawaiian airlines, Island Air and go! Airlines. Pacific Wings (commuter
airlines) has several regularly scheduled flights directly into
Hana Airport and to Kahului Airport.
Car Rentals
All major car rental companies are available in Kahului. Dollar
rent-a-car is the only car agency in Hana and is located at the
Hana Airport. For car reservations picking up in Hana, you may call
Dollar Rent a Car at (800) 342-7398 or a car can be reserved by
calling our Hotel Concierge Desk at (808) 270-5258. If you are driving
to Hana from Kahului, driving directions are available at the counter
from the Car rental companies.

Mokulele Flight Service

Mokulele Flight Service offers occasional roundtrip service to
and from Hana from Kona, Hawaii and Kahului, Maui. Flights are by
appointment and subject to the flight schedule of Mokulele Airlines.
The rates vary and will be quoted at the time of booking. Charter
rates start at $1021.50 per hour with a two-hour minimum. The charter
plane seats nine passengers. There is a 35 pound maximum limit on
luggage. Advance reservations are required. All tickets are non-refundable
except for Y-class passengers. Check-in is required 30 minutes prior
to departure time. Hours of operation are 5am - 9pm daily. For more

Airplane charters available to/from Honolulu Airport and Kahului, Maui Airport. Charters also available from other airports throughout the Hawaiian Islands. Planes seat up to 9 passengers without luggage- and 4-5 passengers with luggage. Charter reservations are subject to availability and advance notice is recommended. Please inquire for rates as fares may vary.

Helicopter charters are available to carry six passengers without
luggage (each piece of luggage counts as one passenger if it weighs
50 pounds or more). Charter rates begin at $2,385.00 per hour for
the Whisper Star and $1,800.00 per hour for the A-Star.

Helicopter charters are available to carry six passengers without
luggage (each piece of luggage counts as one passenger if it weighs
50 pounds or more) or up to 4 passengers with one carry on each
and 3-4 pieces of luggage. Charter rates begin at $1500.00 per hour
for the A-Star. Charter cost from Kahului Airport to Hana Airport
on the A-Star is approximately $750 plus tax and fees (one way).

Private Planes:
The Hana Airport is open to private planes. Below is the pertinent
information for pilots.
The airport is open 24 hours a day. Pilots are responsible for turning
on the runway lights via VHF COM radio for nighttime landings. To
do this, the pilot selects the designated frequency and clicks the
microphone switch. Depressing the microphone switch seven times
within five seconds turns the lights on to maximum brightness. The
lights will stay on for 15 minutes.
- The asphalt runway is 3,606 ft. long and 100 ft. wide.
- Runway capacity is limited to one plane at a time.
- The airport can accommodate 2-engine 402s as well as Dash 8s
up to 12,500 lbs. gross weight. It is left to the pilot's discretion
to determine if the runway is suitable for his or her plane.
- Tie-down fees range from $4/day to $19/week ($38 monthly) for
small planes (up to 12,500 lbs. with a fixed wing span of 42 ft.
or less) and $5/day to $24/week ($48 monthly) for large planes
(more than 12,500 lbs. with a fixed span of 33-47 ft.and up).
Note: Hana Airport is uncontrolled and does not have a tower or
a 24-hour attendant on duty. There is no airport fire department.
